FAQs about funeral donations
Who do I make cheques payable too?
‘St Christopher’s Hospice’
When sending cheques please always provide your name and address and who the donation is in memory of. The above also applies for St Christopher’s Bromley.
What address do I send donations to?
St Christopher’s Hospice
51-59 Lawrie Park Road
Gift aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving more to charity, and it won’t cost you a penny – you just need to be a UK tax payer. However remember you can gift aid only money donated by you and not on the behalf of others. For us to claim gift aid on behalf of others they need to individually give us permission to do so by filling out a gift aid form or making sure they fill out all the boxes on our gift aid envelopes. We need their name, first line of their address, postcode, signature and a tick in the box that confirms they pay tax.
It is a scheme introduced by HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs), which allows us to claim back the basic rate of tax you’ve already paid on the money you donate.
We can reclaim tax from all donations you’ve made in the last four years and all that you make in the future. That’s an extra 25p for every £1 you give at absolutely no extra cost to you. Please remember that what you pay in income/capital gains tax must be at least equal to the amount we will reclaim against your gift.
How do you thank people who donate to St Christopher’s?
We write to thank all those who donate to the hospice, if they have provided an address. Where an address has not been given, but if it clear the donation is in memory of someone who has died, we record this information so that if family enquire how much has been raised in their memory we can let them know. We will thank by post but if you would rather an email just let us know.
How can I find out the total amount raised in memory of someone?
You will need to request this when sending in the donations and provide an address for us to write to. If donations are being sent from different sources, eg from individuals as well as those collected at the funeral, we usually suggest to ring us after about six weeks. This will give people time to post donations and for us to process them. To check on your in memory funds you can call: 020 8768 4574
