Fundraising FAQs
Why does St Christopher’s continue to fundraise?
It costs St Christopher’s £14 million every year to run our services, all of which are provided free to our patients and their families. About a third of this money comes from the NHS. This means we need to raise over £9 million each year from donations and support from local communities. Without you, we simply couldn’t be there for the thousands of people who rely on our help.
How much of my donation goes directly on supporting patients?
81 pence from every pound we receive is spent directly on supporting patients and their families. A further 8 pence is spent on training 7,000 health care professionals so that they can provide the best possible care to many more people across the UK and beyond. The remaining 11 pence goes to raising even more money.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is the easiest way to make your donation worth more, at no extra cost to you. If you pay income tax or capital gains tax in the same tax year as when you made your donation, then St Christopher’s can claim an extra 25p from the Government for every £1 you donated. For more information about Gift Aid, please visit the HMRC website
