Nursing Appeal The nursing teams on the four wards at St Christopher’s provide specialist and compassionate care to patients approaching the end of their lives. To ensure that they are able to provide the best possible care, we need the best equipment.

The specialist mattresses, recliner chairs and syringe drivers used at the hospice are invaluable. They help reduce pain and make sure our patients are comfortable, which gives peace of mind to them and their families.

Our current mattresses and chairs have served our patients well. But, with natural wear and tear, they now need replacing. We also have to replace all of our syringe drivers. We need to do this over the coming months.

What we need:

Advanced Pressure Adjusting Mattresses
These are extremely comfortable, help prevent pressure sores and ensure staff can move patients in comfort and with ease.
Cost per mattress: £4,000

Specialist Recliner Chairs
The chairs help patients to sit up so that they can spend quality time out of bed. The pressure in the cushions can be adjusted to provide support and comfort.
Cost per chair: £1,800

Syringe Drivers
We need to replace all of our current syringe drivers. The drivers help to deliver medications and pain relief effectively and comfortably at the very end of life.
Cost per driver: £1,200
