Universities

Students supporting St Christopher’s… get your university involved!

There are lots of ways for universities to get putting the fun into fundraising and support St Christopher’s.  Our student supporters are always full of ideas and energy and they really inspire us with their fundraising!

Why not join them in the fun?  You could:

  • the McWhippy team Organise an event – fancy dress pub crawl, music night, battle of the bands – get creative, there are so many ideas!
  • Don your best fancy dress costumes and help us with a bucket collection – our supporters at Nottingham University’s Rutland Hall collected at tube stations in London throughout 2010, raising almost £3,000 by charming commuters dressed in their PJ’s and other unusual station attire!
  • Nominate St Christopher’s as your university’s RAG charity.  In 2010-2011 we were delighted to be one of King’s College London’s RAG charities.  The KCL students did us proud by holding events and collections all over London, including the KCL Fashion Show, and raising thousands of pounds for St Christopher’s.  Elizabeth Chamberlain of the RAG Committee says “It was fantastic to be able to support St Christopher’s.  The hospice’s founder, Dame Cicely Saunders, studied medicine at KCL, so it was an obvious choice for us.  It was also brilliant to be able to go on a tour of St Christopher’s and  see how our funds would help – this was really motivating, as well as being relevant to my own medical studies.”
  • Take part in a Go Active event for us, such as a run, a skydive or even an overseas challenge. In 2010 four art students known as the McWhippy team took part in the Mongol Rally to raise funds for St Christopher’s, driving a vintage ice cream van all the way to Mongolia (pictured)!

However you choose to help us, your support will make a crucial difference.
