Written by our patient Sue and recorded in collaboration with the BRIT school

About this song

This song was written our patient Sue and recorded as part of St Christopher’s Soundtracks arts project in collaboration with the BRIT school.

‘Soundtracks’ is a collaboration between the BRIT school and patients from St Christopher’s hospice.  They meet over eight consecutive weeks to compose a song together.  The project ends with a concert when the songs are performed to family, friends and staff.  The songs are then recorded so that everyone can have a CD of the work created.

Lyrics

Pray Silence

These four walls keep staring back at me
pray silence and energy.
Conversations stretch me reaching you.
Speak only when spoken to.

Who’s around, won’t stay around, that seems only natural
So from now on, focus on what you’ve got.
Speechless, I’m speechless.

A crashing tree that no one heard falling down,

Did it really make a sound?
Flowing thoughts that need to be heard,
But no one’s there to grasp every single word.
Choose carefully, never waste speech.
In complete silence you can still hear heartbeats.

Who’s around, won’t stay around, that seems only natural
so from now on, focus on what you’ve got.
Who’s around won’t stay around, that seems only natural.
From now on, focus on what you’ve got.
Speechless, I’m speechless, speechless.

Pray silence, let’s have a bit of hush.
Escape life’s maddening rush.
Take a moment of quiet reflection.

Memories always live on.

Who’s around, won’t stay around, that seems only natural,
so from now on, focus on what you’ve got.
Who’s around, won’t stay around, that seems only natural,
that seems only natural.
