We’re proud to announce that our Sydenham hospice has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and our Orpington hospice has received a rating of Good.
The news comes after a three day inspection in September when inspectors took time to speak with staff, volunteers, patients and families across all areas of the hospice.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with the inspectors saying: “People and their families spoke consistently about the caring and compassionate attitude of staff and volunteers. People were involved in decisions about their care and felt staff listened to them. People’s privacy and dignity were always respected.”
Penny Hansford, Director of Care at St Christopher’s, said: “These are both heartening results and reflect the high standards and quality we all strive for to ensure excellent care is offered across St Christopher’s to our patients, their families and carers. To have the CQC recognise the quality of the services our teams provide each and every day, and confirm this in their reports, is the icing on the cake!”
Joint Chief Executives at St Christopher’s, Heather Richardson and Shaun O’Leary, added: “We are exceptionally proud of the CQC ratings and know this is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the individual members of staff and volunteers at St Christopher’s who always go the extra mile for those we serve.
“We are privileged to care for the people of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark and, equally, we couldn’t provide these caring services without the tremendous support of our communities. Whether through volunteering their time, helping us fundraise the £14 million we need each year to run the hospice or championing our work we would like to thank our supporters for their ongoing faith in us and what we do – this enables us to be the quality organisation that CQC has recognised in their reports.”
