St Christopher’s Food Festival: A taste of summer
Our fabulous Food Festival was a huge success, raising a phenomenal £26,000
On Saturday 9 June in the glorious summer sunshine Green Street Green in Orpington was, once again, the venue for the St Christopher’s Hospice Food Festival and Dog Show. Friends and families came together to support the hospice at the same time as sampling some of the incredible food and drink on offer. From burritos to baguettes and chicken to churros there was something there for everyone.
In addition to being treated to entertainment from both the maypole and lindy hop dancers there were plenty of things to get involved with including bouncy castles, coconut shy, fairground rides, focaccia making classes and a childrens’ fancy dress contest.
As the afternoon continued a whole host of four-legged supporters took centre stage. Dogs of all shapes and sizes vied for the prizes in five closely contested categories including best fancy dress, waggiest tail and the very impressive musical sits. With so many beautiful dogs on show it was a tough decision for head judge and St Christopher’s Joint Chief Executive, Shaun O’Leary to make.
The event raised over £26k for St Christopher’s Hospice who have sites in both Sydenham and Orpington.
Event organiser Jo Mowbray says, “We were so lucky that the weather was good as it made for a wonderful day and great turnout. It was lovely to see so many families out enjoying the sunshine and supporting St Christopher’s. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along, and also to our fabulous volunteers without whom we could not have had such a successful event.”
