Supporters open their gardens to raise money for St Christopher's
This year, St Christopher’s Open Garden Festival – where supporters open their gardens to raise money for their local hospice – proudly showcased an award winning garden on its programme.
This beautiful garden in Eltham was opened by Pat Chapman in memory of Dave Ayling who was the father of Pat’s son-in-law. Dave came to St Christopher’s as a day patient and enjoyed taking part in arts projects such as pottery and painting. Pat found St Christopher’s such a positive place and was surprised by how much the hospice relied on fundraising and donations.
With a passion for gardening and having spent 17 years lovingly designing and perfecting her garden in Eltham, Pat scooped two first prizes in the “Greenwich in Bloom” awards “Best Window Boxes and Hanging Baskets” and “Best Front Landscape Design” this year.
She added: “On the day we had a sale of ceramic goods, tombola, and a plant sale. The day went really well and we were over the moon to have raised over £650 for St Christopher’s.”
Would you like to open your garden for St Christopher’s?
