TeaPotOne Challenge - riding solo around the world
Bruce Smart will be starting his TeapotOne Challenge this year – riding solo 100,000 miles around the world on his motorbike. He aims to raise £1 million which will be split between his for four charities, one of which is St Christopher’s.

"In September 2012, I will be embarking on the charity event of a lifetime and fulfilling a promise."
Bruce Smart
Bruce’s mother was cared for by the hospice before she died, and one of the last conversations she and Bruce had involved him promising her that he would complete the challenge he dreamed of.
A word from Bruce:
What changed my life was a simple conversation with my mum. One day she said to me, “Don’t ever have regrets, look after those you love, but live your life”. That was it, I booked my Direct Access and went for it. I’ll never forget the look of pride on her face as I walked into her ward at St Christopher’s in Penge, fully clad in my leather ‘power ranger’ suit, with my brand new Suzuki GSX-R 600 motorbike parked outside. She looked me straight in the eye and with her voice weak, frail and fragile, she whispered, “you’ll do it?”, and I promised her I would. She died six days later on 23 July 2008. I miss her dearly.
In September 2012, I will be embarking on the charity event of a lifetime and fulfilling a promise. I’ll be riding my Sports motorbike around the world to raise funds and awareness for my selected charities. En-route, I’ll be visiting each of the World Superbikes tracks around the world and completing a lap of each one on the very same weathered bike I’m taking around the world to help promote the event. My journey will involve taking the bike from race track to road, from road to dirt track, from dirt track to desert, and everything in between.
