Fundraising Volunteering – what do you want to do?

Whether you can spare a few hours, a day, or more in the year, there are a range of activities that you can take part in to get involved with our work

Below you will find a list of roles that we simply couldn’t do without the support of our volunteers. Please tick the boxes of the roles that you would like to hear about. Once completed we will no longer contact you about roles you have not asked to hear about.

  • Updating your volunteering preferences

  • A full description of each role is available below. Please note that we will always contact you about roles needed at St Christopher’s own events.

Fundraising volunteer roles

Speaking Ambassador (speaking roles)

We want to raise our profile in the community by spreading the word and unfortunately staff cannot attend everything. Our speakers give talks to a wide range of people, from formal presentations to attending supporter events, local groups or attending cheque presentations. You can fit the talks into your existing commitments and decide when you are available and who you are going to be speaking to.

You do not need any previous experience, some of our Ambassadors talk about their own personal experience of St Christopher’s. We will give you all the information and support that you need as each opportunity arises.

Charity Champion (non-speaking events)

We know that some volunteers are happy to attend community events as a charity representative but would not like to make a formal talk. Therefore this role does not including making a speech but you would be required to mingle with attendees and possibly receive a cheque.

The events range from local street parties and beauty events to larger music events in pubs.

Cakes

Cake baking

This mailing list came about due to a need for homemade cakes at our events. Whenever we asked our supporters to help they came with such scrummy offerings, so we decided to set up the mailing list so we could have dedicated communications to people that enjoy baking and supporting St Christopher’s. We will only email you if there is an event coming up that we need cakes for and if you are available to bake, please do.

Volunteering to help at our events

We need help at our St Christopher’s events all over SE London, this includes Moonlight Walk, Christmas Festival, Bluebell Walk, Food Festival, Open Gardens and many more.

As these events are so reliant on the help of all of you, as a Fundraising Volunteer you will be contacted about all these Event Day Volunteering opportunities.

Community Events

We need volunteers to attend events that take place in all our boroughs. For example South Northwood Community Festival, Penge Festival, Chelsfield Fair. Jobs include kids games, St Christopher’s stall, selling raffle tickets (this is all dependent on the event organiser).

Setting up and packing down events

You’ll be helping us to set up the event which may include setting up marquees, stalls, putting up banners or getting water to the start line. This role is hands on and we are looking for people with enthusiasm.

Bucket Collections

Collecting is a great way to meet people in your local area and what’s more, you’ll be helping to raise money for St Christopher’s.

Knitted Father Christmases

Knitter

We need thousands of knitted chicks, bunnies, Santa’s and snowmen for our Easter and Christmas Campaigns.

Cheer Squad

You’ll be part of our cheering team located on the race route, responsible for cheering and supporting the runners – encouraging them to keep going and beat their challenge!

Moonlight Walk Croydon

Delivering event leaflets in our local community

We need volunteers to help distribute our event marketing materials to their local roads and shops. This will be in the lead up to St Christopher’s own events and we will contact you when the need arises.

Data Protection

We value your support and promise to respect your privacy. The data we hold is managed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998). We will not disclose or share your details with any third party.

We would like to keep you informed about the vital work we do but will only do so in ways that respect any of the preferences that you have indicated on this form.

If you no longer wish to receive any volunteering roles from the Fundraising Department please email Georgie Grant who will remove you from our mailing list.
