Volunteering with St Christopher’s

Our volunteers are an integral part of the St Christopher’s team

Our volunteers

Working alongside staff our volunteers provide comfort, compassion and encouragement when and where it is needed most. People give their time to us through a variety of activities including;

  • Visiting isolated people in our community
  • Supporting patients and families on the wards
  • Displaying merchandise and assisting customers in our shops
  • Helping projects run smoothly in our offices
  • Registering participants at our fundraising events

Learning through volunteering

We aim to create meaningful volunteer roles for people who wish to give their time to us and ensure they find the experience enjoyable and rewarding. By volunteering with us you’ll gain skills, experience and knowledge which can be used in your personal life, your next volunteer role or perhaps your next career move.

Some of the skills, experience and knowledge you could gain by volunteering for us*:

  • Active listening and responding skills
  • Understanding of a hospice and health and social care environment, as well as a not-for-profit organisation
  • Customer service
  • Hospitality
  • Working in a team
  • Internet research, filing and database

*Dependent on the role you undertake with us
