If you were listening to BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday 12 November, you may well have heard Ruqqayah, one of the children we support, being interviewed by Jo Whiley as part of Rylan’s ‘Great Karaoke Challenge for Children in Need’.
Ruqqayah has been coming to St Christopher’s to receive bereavement counselling through our Candle Child Bereavement Service since her dad died two years ago when she was just seven-years-old.
During the interview, she spoke about how Candle has helped her to express her feelings as well as get involved in some fun activities and make new friends at the Candle Child Bereavement groups.
Our Candle Child Bereavement Service receives funding from Children in Need, so it was a great opportunity for Ruqqayah to talk on live radio about how Candle has helped her and her family. We think she did a fantastic job!
If you’d like to catch the interview, it’s still available on the BBC website at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000b6zz and starts at 13.35.
