Coach4Care is an initiative that has been set up to train ex-carers to become coaches for current carers who are looking after someone with a life limiting illness.
Coach4Care believes experienced carers are best placed to support people who are caring because they truly understand what it is like. We provide ex-carers with training to help them use their caring experience in a rewarding and meaningful way.
Experienced carers can support people who are caring because they truly understand what it is like
Ex-carer coaches help carers develop positive coping strategies to improve their resilience and wellbeing as well as helping carers to reflect on their situation and take action to improve their well-being and the well-being of those they care for.
If you look after someone more than 3-4 hours per week and would like to have some flexible support at a time that suits you by a coach who has been in your shoes, then please do get in touch.
Have you cared for someone in the past and would you like use your experience to become a coach and help other carers? If you can you commit to giving an hour of your time every week, for 6-12 weeks then we’d love to hear from you.
If you are interested in becoming a coach or a carer wanting to find out more, please contact Mary Hodgson, Community Action Lead on 020 8768 4761 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or attend one of our drop-in sessions every Wednesday from 12-3pm in the Anniversary Centre at St Christopher’s Hospice, Sydenham site.
