Brendan O'neill

Subject Matter Expert

Brendan O’Neill Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice

Brendan completed his specialty training in palliative medicine in and around SE London spending time at St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham and Trinity Hospice in Clapham.

He was appointed as a Consultant at the Greenwich and Bexley community hospice in 2003 where he now leads the medical team.

In his various roles in the current post he sees patients on the ward in the hospice, at home and in Nursing homes and also on the wards in the local hospital (Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich). Working in a team that crosses conventional boundaries in healthcare he sees regularly how ensuring that sharing of clinical information, decision making and the content of conversations around care planning is of great importance.

More about St Christopher's education

St Christopher’s Education Centre and VAT charges

At St Christopher's, a registered charity, it is important for us to maximise any surpluses to reinvest in the objectives of the charity.

Unfortunately, the manner in which we undertake our training currently means we are not able to invest as much of our surplus as possible, therefore from the 1 December 2017, St Christopher’s Education Centre will charge VAT at the standard rate on our training courses, the reason for this change in pricing is twofold:

i) We want to be able to reinvest any surpluses made from training back into all of our charitable objectives rather than only Education

ii) We want to be able to reclaim the VAT on costs relating to developing and running the training courses
