A one-day event in aid of St Christopher's

This workshop includes in-class exercises in conjunction with worksheets. It is suitable for all ages (under 18s to be accompanied by adult).

Suitable for beginners or writers looking to reignite their work, this one-day creative writing workshop will guide you through the creative process, developing your seed of an idea with all the necessary ingredients until it forms a delightful, simmering plot.

In a warm, fun and inspiring environment, you will learn the nuts and bolts of the creative process and those key elements – character, structure, discipline, plot, drama, the creation of more ideas, point of view, location, delivery, and the all-important strong, dramatic and satisfying conclusion that will leave your readers wanting more.

From the get-go, you will begin to produce work within a structure that will drive your story and creativity forward, even sharing it with your fellow students (don’t worry – you don’t have to) to build your confidence, critiquing skills and the necessary thick-skin all writers must have.

You will leave the course fired-up and inspired to continue your work, armed with a rock-solid structure and ‘menu’ of those necessary ingredients required to create a compelling, unputdownable piece of work.

Writing is all about entertaining the reader, and when coupled with structure, the tools, vision and a daily ethic, the world really is your literary oyster. Go for it!

Are there any course requirements?
Yes, you’ll need basic written English skills to benefit from it.

Is previous creative writing experience required?

Are there any other costs?
No, unless you wish to buy refreshments.

Is there anything I need to bring?
Ideally an idea to work on, but that ‘s not necessary as we’ll soon get you creating one. Also, please bring your own writing materials – pens, pencils, paper etc…
