We are incredibly excited to announce that Tom Allen will be hosting a quiz for St Christopher’s next Friday evening!

Bromley-born comedian, writer and actor Tom is a regular feature on TV screens, presenting Bake Off: The Professionals as well as making appearances on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News For You?

And now he’s presenting our very own St Christopher’s quiz!

Tom will kick off the quiz at 7.30pm on Friday 22 May and you can take part by going to either St Christopher’s Facebook or YouTube pages. In the meantime, why not join and share the event on Facebook?

Some of you may remember that Tom came to visit the hospice in June last year. Tom nominated St Christopher’s to receive his winning prize money from the BBC’s Pointless show back in January 2019, as his dad’s aunt was looked after by the hospice several years ago.

Here’s what Tom had to say about his visit: “It’s been really inspiring to visit St Christopher’s. The place if full of positivity and there’s so much that hospices offer that you don’t expect. I’ve met such lovely staff who take the most amazing care of patients on the wards, but what’s more surprising is just how many patients, and their families, are supported every day in all kinds of ways in their own homes. Support like physio sessions or welfare advice. People tend to think that hospices are all about the last few days of someone’s life, but that’s not at all true.”

You may also have read our interview with Tom about death, dying and loss in last summer’s edition of Connections, our supporter newsletter. In case you missed it, you can read the full article here.

We loved having Tom to visit so as you can imagine we were thrilled when he wholeheartedly agreed to be our quizmaster for the evening!

It promises to be a fabulously entertaining event and we hope to raise much needed funds for our emergency appeal through donations on the night.

So put the date in your diary, get your friends and family on board and start thinking up a team name that’s sure to make Tom chuckle. See you there!
