Bus diversions

Route 176 & 197 towards Penge/Croydon

From Kirkdale, 2nd exit Sydenham Road, right Newlands Park, left Lennard Road, right Parish Lane, right Green Lane, ahead Croydon Road to line of route.

Route 176 & 197 towards Aldwych/Peckham

From Croydon Road, ahead Green Lane, left Parish Lane, left Lennard Road, right Newlands Park, left Sydenham Road, 2nd exit Kirkdale to line of route.

Route 227 towards Bromley North

From Westwood Hill at Crystal Palace Park Road, ahead Westwood Hill, 3rd exit Sydenham Road, right Newlands Park, left Lennard Road, right Parish Lane, right Green Lane, left Penge High Street to line of route.

Route 227 towards Crystal Palace

From Penge High Street, right Green Lane, left Parish Lane, left Lennard Road, right Newlands Park, left Sydenham Road, 1st exit Westwood Hill, ahead Westwood Hill to line of route.

Route 354 towards Penge

From Elmers End Road, right Croydon Road, left Penge High Street, right Penge Lane, right Crooked Billet Stand.

Route 354 towards Bromley North

Until 6pm on Wednesday 10 April, route 354 is disrupted and cutting short of the normal service route, finishing at ‘Croydon Road’ (W) and starting the return journey to Bromley North at ‘Ash Grove’ (BG). Buses will not serve stops from Anerley to Penge in either direction due to gas works taking place.

Visitors are welcome any day of the week between 8am and 8pm (and outside these hours by arrangement).

Visiting information

Parking

There is limited parking in the hospice grounds, including disabled bays. There is free parking in adjoining residential roads.

There is a drop off and pick up bay directly outside the main entrance.

Buses

Bus numbers 197 and 176 pass by the hospice. Bus number 227 stops at the end of Lawrie Park Road.

Trains

London Victoria to Penge East

Two trains an hour, journey time about 18 minutes, plus a 15-minute walk to St Christopher’s. Don’t get off the train at Sydenham Hill, stay on to Penge East.

London Bridge to Sydenham

Four trains an hour, journey time about 15 minutes, plus a 10-minute walk.

East Croydon to Penge West

Two trains an hour, journey time about 30 minutes, plus a 10-minute walk.

Overground Train

Overground train every 15 minutes starting from Highbury & Islington, via Canada Water

Parking

There is some parking in the Caritas House grounds, including disabled bays. There is also limited free parking in adjoining residential roads. There is a drop off and pick up area directly outside the main entrance. We keep wheelchairs at reception and staff can help you into the building.

Buses

From Orpington High Street numbers R5, R8, R10, R11 and 358.

From Orpington station number 654.

Trains

Orpington

Orpington station is a 17-minute walk away.

There are a number of trains every hour to London Charing Cross, Cannon Street or Victoria. Journey time is around 30 minutes.

There are also two trains an hour to both Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks in Kent and two direct trains an hour to Hastings in Sussex.
