Every Thursday at 1.30pm a walking group from the hospice sets off to enjoy the outdoors, while improving their health and wellbeing, and they’ve made great strides since they stepped out for the first time a year ago.

On Thursday 3 October, the group will celebrate their first birthday in the Anniversary Centre between 2.15-2.30pm with tea and cake.

Whether you’ve been on the walk before, are interested in getting involved in the future, or just like cake – everyone at the hospice is invited to come along and celebrate. Better still, join us for the walk before.

The weekly walk at St Christopher’s is part of a programme of walks across Lewisham supported and promoted by Lewisham Healthy Walks. Since its launch, the event has attracted dozens of walkers ranging from hospice volunteers, staff and patients’ families, to local residents and even a few keen hikers.

The walks, which take in the beautiful open spaces of Crystal Palace Park, are usually six to eight strong, with a choice of routes around the park and benches close by for those who need to rest along the way. Walks take place in all weathers, the only exception this year being the day of the record-breaking heatwave!
