Carys is a Heart Failure Nurse Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare Trust in London. She has been elected as the first non-medic Chair Elect of the British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) 2023-2025, deputy Chair 2021-2023. Prior to this Chair BSH Nurse Forum 2019-21 and board observer 2017 -2019.

Other positions currently held are junior secretary and British association for nursing in cardiovascular care (BANCC) council member, committee member of the British Geriatric Society (BGS) Cardiovascular Special Interest Group, Heart Failure Policy Network, Pumping Marvellous clinical committee, and Cardio renal scientific committee.

She is committed to supporting the education and development of heart failure specialist nurses and allied health professionals, through the BSH and the nurse forum but also as an honorary lecturer of heart failure masters modules at Glasgow Caledonian University and Keele University.

Carys has a specialist interest in palliative care in heart failure.
