A senior clinical lecturer and consultant neurologist working at the Sheffield Motor Neuron Disorders Care and Research centre and a member of the UK MND Research Institite. 

Esther’s clinical and research interests include developing evidence-based treatments and supportive and symptomatic care for people with MND including their families and carers. 

She is chief investigator in an NIHR funded study examining the effect of a highly intensive service to optimise non-invasive ventilation in 12 UK sites and has an interest in other respiratory, cough and secretion management,  advanced care planning and service development.

She developed a telehealth service TiM-Care which is now used to connect people with MND to their MND care centre in over 10 UK centres. She has subsequently worked to roll out TiM-Research which can combine NHS and patient-entered data to make research accessible to more people with MND.
