Farah Demachkieh

I’m a nurse and a public health professional who’s been shaping palliative care in Lebanon since 2018 with SANAD The Home Hospice Organization of Lebanon. I currently serve as Vice President of the Lebanese Association for Palliative Care Nursing, sit on the General Council at Public Health Palliative Care International (PHPCI), and mentor fellows with the fellowship program by St. Christopher’s Hospice and the Institute of Palliative Medicine in Kerala.

My work experience has been mainly focused on building quality palliative care services, empowering teams, and strengthening compassionate communities. Lately, I’ve been diving into research on grief and palliative care in humanitarian settings. I’m also fascinated by the concept of compassion in healthcare and everyday life — so much that I recently completed a fellowship in compassionate spaces with the Institute of Palliative Medicine and the Institute of Architecture in Kerala.

Outside work, I’m an animal lover and proud cat mom to Snowy, book addict, and a yogi who intends to master an unassisted handstand one day. I love deep, meaningful conversations – if you do too, let’s connect and chat!
