Helen Scott
Helen is an Independent Nurse Lecturer specialising in palliative and end-of-life care and dementia. She is a Visiting Lecturer for St Christopher’s Hospice, London, and an Associate Trainer for Dementia Trainers. She previously worked at St Christopher’s as a Palliative Care Nurse Lecturer, a Practice Development Clinical Nurse Specialist for Care Homes, and as an inpatient ward nurse. Her interest in dementia grew from her experience of living with and caring for her mother who had vascular dementia.
Helen is co-founder of a theatre-in-education group ‘Stories That Speak’, which provides experiential communication skills training for people working in palliative, end-of-life and dementia care, through the use of drama and narratives.
Helen was also Editor of the End of Life Journal and British Journal of Nursing and Managing Editor of International Journal of Palliative Nursing. She has a BA(Hons) in Drama from The University of Manchester and an MSc (Dist) in Palliative Care from the Cicely Saunders Institute, King’s College London.
