Hilary Powers, Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, MBACP, HCPC

Hilary joined St Christopher’s in April 2023 as an art psychotherapist working in the IPU, with outpatients, and in the community. She has previously worked in diverse settings including an NHS acute inpatient ward, a specialist dementia care home, within the IAPT service and with adult survivors of sexual abuse. She is experienced in practising both individually and in groups and also has a small private practice.

Believing strongly in the power of creativity to aid expression, Hilary chose to train as an integrative arts psychotherapist at the Institute of Arts in Therapy & Education in London which involved employing various techniques including story-telling, drama and sand play as well as the more traditional art forms of image-making and sculpture.

Before training as an AT, Hilary worked in schools supporting young people with special educational needs and as a nursery assistant. She also has decades of experience working within the charitable sector as a PR professional.
