Joe is a freelance researcher interested in how we talk about pain, grief and loss, particularly at the end of life. He has worked in the English department at King’s College London and as part of the End of Life Studies Group at the University of Glasgow.

Joe’s book Cicely Saunders and Total Pain was recently published by Edinburgh University Press.
