Kate Shaw, Clinical Nurse Specialist, St Christopher’s Hospice

Kate Shaw started her nurse training in 1997 and worked for many years on an HIV inpatient unit and then as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in HIV-oncology. She took 3 years out of clinical practice to work in health services research but found she couldn’t keep away from nursing so joined the clinical team at St Christopher’s in 2017 where she works as a community Clinical Nurse Specialist in palliative care.

She is committed to equity of care provision and has been a homelessness champion at the hospice for the last 3 years, working closely with two hostels in Croydon. There is a lot of work still to do to ensure that everyone has access to and receives the best possible care to achieve equality.
