Professor Mari Lloyd-Williams

Professor Mari Lloyd-Williams is Professor of Palliative and Supportive Care at John Moores University / University of Liverpool, Hon Consultant in Palliative Medicine Liverpool Marie Curie Centre and Liverpool CCG

Following clinical training at University of Leicester and working as registrar and consultant at LOROS Hospice Leicester, Mari joined University of Liverpool as Senior Lecturer and was promoted to personal chair within the Faculty of Medicine and has worked as a consultant at Liverpool Marie Curie Hospice.

Her research interests centre on assessment and non pharmacological interventions for Depression in advanced cancer; supporting patients with dementia and their families to live and die well within their community; support for carers including respite day care and how this impacts on use of health and social care; and the benefits of intergenerational activities particularly with pre-school children and older people as both groups access day care, but frequently apart. In 2022, Mari was appointed to a new post as Professor of Palliative and Supportive Care at Liverpool John Moores University and lives in N Wales where she is very involved in her local community
