Rachel is a experienced nurse, and later became a lecturer-practitioner in psycho/social/spiritual aspects of palliative care, and an Advanced Communication Skills Trainer. Rachel’s PhD research at St Christopher’s resulted in ‘Recognising Spiritual needs in People who are Dying’ (Oxford University Press). She also has lived experience as a carer, caring for two close relatives who experienced dementia and eventual death. Rachel has recently trained as an Art Psychotherapy and as an Ignatian (Christian) spiritual companion. As an adopter, she is concerned with attachment issues at every stage of life, and currently facilitates online and face-to-face ‘Stillshops’ – contemplative spaces where individuals and small groups can reflect on life through works of art and mark making.
