Suzana Makowski, MD, MMM is a Palliative Care Physician and the Medical Director of Compassionate Care ALS. She serves as a volunteer Associate Professorship at UMass Chan School of Medicine, teaching, and mentoring students, continuing her relationship since leaving her position as co-Chief of Palliative care. She has received numerous awards for her work in healthcare education, palliative care, humanism in medicine.

She teaches healthcare communication and palliative care nationally and internationally. She has served on national committees aimed at improving access and quality of palliative care. Dr. Makowski completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care at San Diego Hospice. She received her Medical Degree from University of Rochester. She was born in Brazil, and grew up in Surrey, England, the Philippines, Peru, and has lived in Germany and Austria, she brings a multicultural perspective to the care of her patients.
