A message from the London Hospice LGBTQ+ Network 📣

This weekend, hundreds of people will be taking to the streets of London to celebrate Pride 2022 🏳‍🌈

Amongst those marching will be representatives from several Hospices in the Network, celebrating this day, which allows people to be who they are, within the LGBTQ+ community.

We’re raising the profile of Pride within Hospices local to you, to champion equitable and inclusive end of life care services for ALL.

🏳‍🌈 A little bit about us…

The London Hospice LGBTQ+ Network was formed in 2017. The network was set up to develop the commitment of local hospices to the LGBTQ+ communities, staff and volunteers they serve.

Pride

This was in response to the continued belief held by many LGBTQ+ people that they are not welcomed, or will be treated poorly in healthcare, which can lead to poor attendance for screening, late, diagnosis, and poor outcomes. When considering end of life care, reports by the University of Nottingham, Cicely Saunders Institute, Marie Curie and others confirm that there is plenty to improve.

Our mission, as a coalition of Hospices all working together throughout London and the surrounding areas, is to work towards ensuring that every person, in the local communities we serve, gets the care and support they need; when they need it most.

We are working to ensure that our care across all our hospices is equitable, and that all people within the LGBTQ+ community know that Hospice care is for them, too.

We work together, Chaired by Stacey Towler from St Clare Hospice and Anthony Davison from Trinity Hospice, to ensure that LGBTQ+ equality is a priority within all of our organisations.

We can’t wait to take part in London Pride 2022, it’s been too long since we’ve come together, and we can’t wait to be Team Rainbow! 🏳‍🌈
