St Christopher’s features in the final episode of Paul O’Grady’s documentary series, ‘The Sally Army and Me’ on BBC One at 6pm on Sunday 1 May.
The series has followed Paul as he goes through Salvation Army Officer training. One aspect of becoming an officer is to be able to provide counselling and consolation to those who are unwell, and also to people who have been bereaved. St Christopher’s supports the Salvation Army with this important training which is why we are being featured.
When Paul O’Grady visited, he spent the day meeting and talking with patients, staff and volunteers on our wards and in our Anniversary Centre.
He also attended an art therapy session and organised a surprise for two people who use the Anniversary Centre.
The episode is in memory of two of our patients who were interviewed for the show but who have sadly passed away since filming.
