St Christopher’s is delighted that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has recognised its Personal Care service as good right across the service; judging it to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The CQC visited in February 2019 and sought feedback from people who receive care, their relatives and carers.
St Christopher’s Personal Care is based in Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham, and was established as a care agency to offer high-quality care to help people live independently in their own homes; supporting them with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, meal preparation and support with medication. The service has a focus on skilled end of life care for people in their own homes, and can be privately paid for by patients but also fulfills contracts for local health services.

As well as complimenting the service leaders on their management of staff and timely responses to feedback, the CQC report applauded St Christopher’s Personal Care staff for their enthusiasm and experience, supported by regular and comprehensive training.
The report also found that people’s care was delivered in a flexible manner that met their preferences and requirements, which was achieved by regularly assessing people’s needs and risks. The report described staff as compassionate and caring; supporting people to make decisions about their care and maintain their independence as much as possible.

We are hugely proud that the CQC has recognised how well-trained, caring and compassionate our staff are – it’s a great testament to their professionalism.”
The CQC report included feedback from people who were directly impacted by the care provided by St Christopher’s Personal Care service, and comments included:

“Having senior managers of high calibre at the top influences the quality of staff. They have set high standards for staff and in my experience the care staff meet them.”
“Thank you for giving me the chance to say how wonderful this agency is. I would highly recommend them.”
“It makes me feel so happy that someone comes in who really cares about my loved one and has taken the time to know them.”
