VIRTUAL CHALLENGE: Complete at least 5,000 steps per day for as many days as you can manage in April and May

  • Due to the current situation and having to cancel our Bluebell Walk, we are asking you to join us and complete at least 5,000 steps per day for as many days as you can manage in April and May. You can take on the challenge alone or do it as a team (if you live in the same household) or even a virtual team if you aren’t able to be with each other physically. Either way, join our online community of steppers all working together to reach 50 million steps.

You can take part at home, in your garden or the local park within government guidelines – the choice is yours! You don’t need a tracker to take part.

You’ll receive a challenge pack with everything you need and regular emails to keep you motivated and give you some great ideas to get your steps in.

By taking part you’ll be supporting your local hospice while keeping fit and looking after your health and wellbeing.

So grab your trainers and Step Up for St Christopher’s because your steps change lives.

  • How can I track my steps?

When you sign up you will receive a challenge pack with lots of useful resources including a form for logging your progress. You can track your steps using a smart watch or through the NHS fitness app.

Don’t have a smart watch or a phone? When walking for 30 minutes, the average person completes around 3,000 steps. Go for a walk around the house, in your garden or outside, if you can, and time yourself. Log the amount of minutes you spent walking and upload the total at the end of each week.

How will you know how many steps I've done?

Every Friday we will ask you to upload your weekly step count onto our website. Your progress will be added to our Step-ometer, and you can see how your support is helping us reach our grand target of 50 million steps.

Share what you’re doing online: make sure you upload a photo or a video of you completing your steps and tag us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

When you do, be sure to tell us why you’re taking on the #StepUp for St Christopher’s challenge.

  • Three easy ways to get your steps in:

    Shoe
Make the most of your walk outside for the day within Government guidelines by boosting your step count

Host a virtual workout session with your friends or family

If you’re working from home, take a short break once an hour and get stepping
