Volunteer Jo GarfitJoanna Garfit has been volunteering for St Christopher’s since 2014. Currently she volunteers in our Addiscombe shop and is part of the huge retail team which raises an incredible £1.2 million each year. Joanna tells us about how volunteering at St Christopher’s has given her confidence.

“I live in Croydon and love going dancing with friends and meeting up with my family, but I am a huge shopaholic! A friend of mine who knows how much I love shopping suggested that I help out in one of St Christopher’s shops; it lets me do something useful while also being in a shopping environment.

I love being part of such a friendly and supportive team

Talking to customers and the other volunteers has given me more confidence and a reason to get up in the morning. I really value having a purpose in my day and being a volunteer has been great for that, I love being part of such a friendly and supportive team.”
