Book Club

Join us for our book club, which runs on the second Tuesday of every month at St Christopher’s CARE! The sessions are free to join, and will begin at 6pm and finish at 7.30pm, with drinks and nibbles to share whilst we talk through the book choice for the month, delving into your thoughts, feelings and questions.

These will be regular social book club evenings where we discuss, debate and explore a monthly book selected by our group, from fiction, to poetry, memoir and more! We will be uncovering new treasures and reacquainting ourselves with old favourites, delving into books that explore death, dying and loss in ways that may be by turns familiar, unexpected and thought-provoking.

If you would like to join our book club mailing list and attend a session, please email e.woodhouse@stchristophers.org.uk

Book Club is taking a break in December and will be back in January 2024!

What will the book club meetings involve?

Wine, tea, chatting, a chance to meet new people and to explore a book!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Healthy Walks

All are welcome to join this friendly, welcoming group which meets every Thursday, for a healthy walk in Crystal Palace Park.

The walks set off at 1.30pm from the St Christopher’s CARE front entrance. We walk for just under an hour, through the beautiful park, enjoying the changing of seasons. Walking routes are tailored to the energies and abilities of all participants.

Everyone is welcome to take part – volunteers, staff, friends, service users, relatives, local residents, and the walks are free

You can take part whether or not you have walked with us before, and there is no need to book.

Walks are risk assessed to ensure safety in relation to Covid and other safety issues. This includes avoiding the busiest areas, and walking in small groups, with people who have a similar walking pace. Please wear comfortable footwear, and clothing appropriate for the weather.

Toilets are available at the start and finish of the walk, and after the walk we usually stay on for a cuppa in the Anniversary Centre.

You will need to register with Lewisham Healthy Walks, which you can do online or by completing a form when you arrive for your first walk. Register online here.

For more information, please email HealthyWalks@stchristophers.org.uk or call 07834802355. Or just turn up on a Thursday lunchtime!
