Walking alone, but together…
The regular Healthy Walks group – which normally meets on a Thursday – has set up weekly Zoom sessions and a WhatsApp group with the aim of keeping one other motivated to walk regularly.
So now, while the group can’t walk together, they ‘meet’ every Thursday at 1.30pm – the usual walking time for the group. There’s a quick ‘hello’ through Zoom or by phone, and then those who are able, each head out for their own walk. At 2.30pm when everyone gets back home, the group meets up again for a chat over a cup of tea for up to 40 minutes.
Alongside that, the WhatsApp group also allows the group to share photos and videos of what members are seeing in their local parks as spring buds start to transform into summer blooms.
All St Christopher’s friends, staff, patients, families and volunteers are welcome to join the group. Please contact Chris Warner c.warner@StChristophers.org.uk to request the Zoom details and, if you supply your mobile phone number, you can also be added to the WhatsApp group.
It’s not the same as walking and talking together in a group, but it’s one way to keep in touch and enjoy each other’s company until we can meet again in person.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Keep walking.
All our online sessions are free to join. If you are able to, please consider making a small donation
to the hospice to help us continue running these services.
