For the first time ever St Christopher’s is teaming up with our neighbours, Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice, to put on a spectacular sponsored Twilight Walk!
The five mile circular route from Blackheath Common will take in iconic landmarks, including the Cutty Sark, and we’re urging you to join us on Saturday 29 September to raise vital funds to care for south east London.
Fundraiser, Georgie, says, “We’re so pleased to be fundraising with Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice. By joining forces we can have a bigger impact and help make sure hospice care can be there for everyone, whenever they may need it.”
One such person is Sabina, 45, who has been an inpatient at St Christopher’s since May 2018, having been diagnosed with breast cancer and Motor Neurone Disease.
Sabina explains, “I first came to St Christopher’s with my husband, Colin, who was also under St Christopher’s care after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The staff at the hospice were so kind and put us on the same bay next to one another so we wouldn’t have to be apart.
St Christopher’s wouldn’t have been able to care for us without events like the Twilight Walk
I have also spent really important time with my children in Art Therapy sessions, where we created a sculpture of our family, which they are going to keep in their memory box. Everybody has just been so kind but they wouldn’t have been able to care for us without the support from the public who send in donations or attend events like the Twilight Walk.”
