Physician Associate

We are recruiting to an exciting opportunity for a Physician Associate to join the clinical team at St Christopher’s Hospice to grow our Palliative and End of Life clinical services in South East London.  We are passionate about multi-disciplinary working to provide high quality and holistic palliative care to the people we support and therefore are looking to diversify professional voices in the organisation to welcome the contribution of a new role of Physician Associate.

There are two roles available across our two locations, one in Sydenham and one in Orpington with a focus on meeting the goals of people facing palliative and end of life conditions and supporting their families and carers wherever we can.  Our reach spans across a diverse population of approximately 1.7 million people within the five London Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. We employ around 600 staff (including bank staff) who work within the community and across our two patient sites. We are supported by around 1350 volunteers, many of whom provide their invaluable services on a regular basis.

We are a charity, led by a Board of Trustees and we raise significant funds each year through the generosity and commitment of our local communities. In addition, we raise funds through commercial activities, including 22 charity shops.

The role would suit someone who may or may not have palliative care experience but who has a clear passion for supporting people approaching the end of their life.

This challenging and dynamic role will work closely with the multidisciplinary team of consultant doctors and nurses in addition to social workers, complementary therapists and art and music therapists.  You will act as a source of clinical care to people reaching the end of their life with both cancer and non-cancer diagnoses. This includes those living with frailty, dementia and neurological conditions.

The successful applicant will want to actively participate in a broad range of teaching activities, management and leadership opportunities, research programmes and enjoy being part of a vibrant team advancing palliative and end of life care at local national and global levels if appropriate.
