Salary: £46,915 per annum (being the full time equivalent)
Contract/Hours: Permanent, 36 hours per week full time (option for part time 0.8 FTE)

St Christopher’s have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, enthusiastic and skilled person to co-ordinate our Candle Child Bereavement Service. Established in 1999, Candle was a pioneering bereavement service supporting children, young people and their parents/carers across five London boroughs; Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. You will build on the excellent work of Candle and, with others, develop the service for the future. This is a crucial role within our adult and children’s bereavement services.
The Candle Child Bereavement service offers:
Leading a small dedicated team, you will work with children and young people up to the age of 18. Referrals to the team are made by external professionals, family members and by self-referral (from age 16).

The post includes line management of four team members who each work part time across the week. The team comprises two counsellors, a Play Therapist and an Art Therapist. You will hold a caseload as well as manage the team and Candle Service day-to-day.
Collaborative working with colleagues across the organisation is an important aspect of the role; including the inpatient unit, Community Nursing Teams, Psychosocial teams and Community Action Team. The post holder has the responsibility, with others to ensure that the needs of children and young people approaching bereavement and into bereavement are recognised and supported. This can extend to offering advice and information to parents and adult carers for children facing bereavement.
