At St Christopher’s we are passionate about building a thriving workforce of healthcare professionals and offer a range of opportunities for those both studying and working in the field of hospice and palliative care.
Virtual clinical visits
Our virtual clinical visits provide an opportunity to explore the various palliative and end of life services at St Christopher’s Hospice virtually.
Our Virtual Clinical Visits provide both live and on-demand opportunities to explore St Christopher’s services, network with peers, meet with St Christopher’s staff relevant to your role and critically evaluate practice.
By the end of the Virtual Clinical Visit you will create an action plan for developing practice specific to your context.

All clinical professions working in palliative care or interested in palliative care. Please note, Virtual Clinical Visits are relevant for professionals rather than students.

Discovery days
We welcome professionals and others interested to gain insight into the work of St Christopher’s – focused on the past, present and the future.
The half-day programme for professionals outlines our history and founding principles, the care on offer today and how we are preparing for future challenges and opportunities.
During your visit you will tour both St Christopher’s Centre for Awareness and Response to End of Life (CARE) and the hospice and meet a variety of people involved in St Christopher’s who will guide your visit and explain the services we offer.
In the meantime, if you are interested to know what our wards provide and look like there is a video here that may be of interest.
Those working in the health and social care sectors who would like to gain an insight into the work of St Christopher’s past, present and the future.

If you would like a programme that is more bespoke to your learning needs, opportunities exist to co-design a programme as part of a group visit see Group Visits.
Group visits
We welcome groups of individuals interested to learn more about particular aspects of our work and in some depth.
If your group would like to visit St Christopher’s we offer full or half day experiences for which we will co-design with you to reflect your priorities for learning and our insights regarding contemporary hospice care.
Outline
Our current areas of interest include:
- Rehabilitative palliative care
- Palliative nursing
- Inequalities at end of life and how we best address these
- Learning from the past to shape future strategy
- Working effectively as part of the death system
A half day is likely to last between three and four hours and will include a tour of the hospice, access to relevant publications and resources and light refreshments.
A full day is around 6 hours in length and is likely to also include some arts-based exploration.
Who is it for
Groups of Professionals or Students working and training in health and social care sectors who would like to gain an insight into the work of St Christopher’s, with emphasis on your particular areas of interest.
How to apply
Costs: £945 plus VAT for a half day.
Prices are for up to 15 people (additional delegates – £52.50 plus VAT per person for a half day).
Please note that the talks will normally be in English. We welcome groups with an interpreter but need to know this in advance.
